Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We really loved it here, all of the food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Super happy that we live right nearby because we will be coming back often!! Highly recommend. My favourites were the Kingfish Ceviche ($12.50) and the Shimebasa Basilpesto ($16.00)."
"Ougi Kaiten Sushi was a great experience! I ordered the tuna sashimi and it was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, which really added to the experience. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food. Highly recommend!"
"We ordered a nigiri platter for a friend’s birthday party, and it turned out to be the best choice. It was even more popular than the food I made The fish was all fresh, and the taste was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth trying if you love sushi."
"My kids love coming to this sushi train. It has changed owners few times, but this time was amazing! The sushi train is always filled with a variety of choices and flavors, constantly supplying fresh salmon plates. There are so many options, and you don’t need to order individually. We will definitely come back again!"
"Great atmosphere, good food — but room for improvement. I’d long wanted to visit this place, but my schedule never quite aligned with their opening hours — always something in the way. First impressions were mixed. For a restaurant of this level and pricing, the cheap wooden chopsticks and poorly washed spoons were disappointing. In my view, stainless steel or recyclable plastic chopsticks — whether reusable or disposable — would be far more appropriate. The menu offers a solid selection of nigiri, sushi, rolls, appetizers, and non-alcoholic drinks. Unfortunately, most of the rolls fell apart easily — quite literally. That said, there was a highlight: the Philadelphia roll (listed under a different name) was surprisingly well-made — large, generously filled, delicious, and beautifully presented. Sadly, the tamago fell apart. I tried shimesaba for the first time and would strongly recommend it to any fish lover. The interior has a charming atmosphere: walls decorated with parchment featuring stylized Japanese artwork, a sushi train quietly moving through the space, and modern pop-rock playing in the background — subtle but fitting. The staff is cheerful and friendly, adding to the overall sense of comfort. Why not five stars: – the door is awkward and difficult to open; – prices are steep, especially given portion sizes (karaage — $16 for six pieces); – the staff moves slowly, perhaps due to traditional Japanese service — clearing the table only after the meal, not during. Despite the high prices, I’d like to return — most likely for a special occasion. It’s a worthy place, but if they want guests to come back more often, some details need attention."
"We ordered the sushi platter and were impressed by the freshness and variety. Each piece was delicious, and the presentation was stunning. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!"
"I highly recommend the Ougi sushi burger — it’s honestly so good. It might even be the only place in Perth that sells sushi burgers. My son said it was the best sushi burger he’s ever had. It’s delicious and healthy too, so we’ll definitely be going back for more."
"Honestly, 85% good stuff. We are also returning customer probably our 6th / 7th visit today. 1 issue ruined our experience today. Wife is pregnant but that’s not the whole point, don’t think anyone come to a Japanese restaurant to eat pork gyoza with raw pork. Feedback was given immediately in hope they’ll fix the issue straight away, got a denial comment instead “it is actually cooked, but we will provide a replacement” so that just mean I’m accusing and twisting thr facts then? These photos are actually from the replacement. Help me understand that it’s still not raw? Note to the chef : I know your concern is that gyoza skin is already burnt, but it’s still raw on the inside mate. Slow down your fryer heat, you should be frying with lower oil temp over longer period to evenly cook the inside while avoiding the outside to be burnt. We genuinely like your restaurant but always keep your mind open and listen to the feedback given and take them seriously. We just want you to improve so we can keep coming back! All the best. 수고하셨습니다."
